The Huntress
I've probably been listening to too much Danheim but the idea of a red haired, red-eyed pagan huntress came to me in a dream and I had to visualise it on paper. This is an A4 sized oil painting.
Freyja
Freyja, brother of Frey, goddess of fertility, love, battle and death. Probably the most famous of all of the female Norse gods, she is pictured here with an ivy crown being greeted by a blue-tit. This was strongly inspired by classical paintings of Madonna.
Autumn
This is my take on 'Autumn'. Whilst this depiction isn't directly related to any sort of mythology it does draw heavily on pagan influences. For example the adorning of animal skulls, a missing eye and heavy red makeup. The older lady combined with an orange sun reeks of decay and change.
Idunn
Goddess of spring and apples. She's depicted here wearing a necklace of apples, featuring a feather crown and crying blood. This is a large canvas and my first attempt at a large scale portrait.
