I've taken classic black and white portraits and combined them with a tattoo inspired style and some elements of graffiti art. The result is what I'm calling 'Broken Portraits'. It's still a portrait but it's a little mad, a little twisted, a little warped. I've used the colour red to create a vibrant contrast with the black and white realism to form truly bold pieces.
Absolute juggernaut of a human. I stylised this Amy Winehouse portrait to follow a similar theme to my other broken portraits. A blackened eye, some graffiti and a splash of red.
This was my first A4 sized portrait and it was quite challenging getting all of the details in such a small space, but it came out great.
Saruman AKA Angry Gandalf played by the legend Christopher Lee, in the epic trilogy 'The Lord of the Rings'.
Little known fact about Christopher Lee, he was the lead singer in a heavy metal band and I have their Christmas song 'Jingle Hell' in my Christmas playlist.
I enjoyed every second of this painting.
The first rule of Fight Club is that you... You know the rest surely?
The quote is cut off in the photo, but it reads "We're the middle children of history, man."
I love the way this one came together. The words in the background compliment it perfectly.
Impressive, now let's see Paul Allen's business card.
This painting is based on the character 'Patrick Bateman' - from the cult classic 'American Psycho' played by Christian Bale. I love the red pattern in the background, it really elevates this piece
If you haven't seen American Psycho yet, you should, it's awesome.
The one and only, the notorious, the king.
I wanted to do something really different with this one. I scribbled B.I.G on his face and tucked away a little upside down cross in his eye.
For me, this particular painting marked the start of exactly where I wanted to go as an artist. I was sad to let this one go.
These stylised, realism portraits are an eclectic blend of classic black and white portraiture with a tattoo inspired style and elements of graffiti art. These portraits are not your typical portrait - they are mad, twisted and warped. But that's exactly what makes them so unique and fascinating.
I have always had a fascination with gothic portraits. There is something about the haunting beauty and darkness that has always captivated me. However, I wanted to take this traditional style and put my own spin on it. That's when the idea for 'Broken Portraits' was born.
These portraits are a fusion of two seemingly disparate styles - classic portraiture and tattoo art. The result is a bold and vibrant piece that is both striking and beautiful. Each portrait is carefully crafted to highlight the unique features of the subject, while also incorporating elements of graffiti art. I sometimes use the colour red to create a vivid contrast with the black and white realism of the portrait, adding an element of surprise and intrigue.
The subjects of these portraits vary - from celebrities and pop culture icons, to friends and family members. Each portrait is a reflection of the subject's personality and character, captured in a way that is both bold and beautiful. Whether you are drawn to the haunting gaze of a gothic beauty or the bold lines of a tattoo-inspired portrait, there is something for everyone in these 'Broken Portraits'.
At its core, 'Broken Portraits' is a celebration of the unconventional. It's about taking something traditional and making it your own. It's about embracing the mad, twisted and warped side of life and transforming it into something beautiful. These portraits are not for everyone, but for those who appreciate the beauty in the unconventional, they're perfect.
Whether you are a lover of gothic beauty, tattoo art, or simply appreciate the unconventional, there is something for everyone in this collection. So why not add a little madness and beauty to your life with a 'Broken Portrait'?
